On Stardate: 201520.06 the crew of the IKV veqlargh bey gathered for a batlh ram (Night of Honour) which has become a tradition on our ship.
The batlh ram is a night where we honour the memory of Kahless and His Teachings, it is a time when we gather together in celebration of Klingon Culture, Ritual, and Ceremony. The night is also filled with much drinking, story-telling, and singing that begins with a feast prepared by all. Each and every crew member brings the dishes special to their respective Houses and we all share the meal together in the Sojtay.
Our batlh ram is also a time to speak our sacred language of thlIngan Hol (no matter ones’ level of proficiency)
The evening finishes with select readings from the paq’batlh in both “Fed Standard” and tlhIngan Hol. The CO (who is also a Cleric of Boreth) begins with a verse and the sacred book is passed in a circle with each Warrior reading aloud from the text bathed in candlelight.
This particular batlh ram was a testament to the greatness of the Klingon Race and our glorious accomplishments. Many tales of battle were told, songs were sang, Bloodwine was consumed with much relish, fo9d was consumed in great quantities during the Sojtay, and planning for upcoming reStarc Style moqbara and betleH classes were discussed (the CO is a martial artist with a black sash in Baguazhang and a practitioner of Qigong). Our Night of Honour was ended by the solemn readings from the paq’batlh washed in flickering candlelight.
Qapla’ batlh je!
