Retroactive Report – Pride 2015

The IKV CRIMSON DAWN is currently stationed in Timmins, a small city in North of Ontario that is just starting to learn how to embrace diversity. This year, we only the second annual Pride parade, and, as our ship has a small but diverse crew we decided that we should be present and support the local Pride festivities. tlharnoQ contacted the local Pride committee to advise them of our planned participation.

After planning our attendance, we decided to enlist the assistance of any other aliens who might be stationed in the area. Maj’vIq created this sign as encouragement to them. The invitation was noted, but none joined at this time. We are hopeful to be able to recruit those aliens who responded to our call during future events.

When the day arrived, only tlharnoQ was able to attend in uniform. She arrived ready to hit the streets with the proud and colourful group of marchers armed with roller skates and a sign indicating the Klingon Empire’s willingness to fight at the side of any worthy warrior.

A couple of protestors yelled rude remarks at members of the procession, when they targeted tlharnoQ, all she needed to do was skate past them showing no fear and they took a few steps back, cowed by her terrifying warface. No battle was necessary and the parade continued without incident.

Attendance at the parade was estimated to be approximately 500 participants; an amazing success for such a young event in a small northern city.

Present – no uniform

Lance Corporal Nivek (waving flag in the rear of next photo) was present at the event in his capacity as a member of the Pride committee and therefore had to disguise himself as human and wear their logo. He served both the Pride committee and the Klingon Empire honourably despite lack of uniform.
