Greetings from the Dark Moon Fleet
Commander!
This has been a good year, a lot of Warriors are
doing great things for their ships and for KAG in general. I'm
pleased to announce that the Dark Moon Fleet Streamer/Banner program is
taking hold and becoming a success. For those of you who don't
know what this may be, now is your lucky chance to learn!
Once yearly an award will be given at each
convention for the convention Ship of Honor. Example: At
convention 'XYZ' a Ship of Honor will be chosen to carry that specific
streamer/banner. "Now how will we determine what ship gets this
award?" you may ask. The highest ranking Klingon will give the
award by a consensus of the Klingons represented there, taking into
account what ship did the most/hardest work, what ship looked the best,
how many uniformed Klingons this ship had present for the con,
etc. All these things will be taken into account so that the
proper honor and glory can be given to the most deserving Klingon ship
at that convention.
Another banner/streamer award that will be given out
once a year is the Quadrant Ship of Honor. Currently the Ship of
Honor banner for Dark Phoenix and Dark Star Quadrants are given out at
Dragon Con every year. The respective Quadrant Commander is the one who
makes the decision. Sometimes the QC will consult with their respective
staff (the Marine rep, QM rep, IXL rep, etc).
Things that they tend to look at are communication
with the Quadrant Commander, communication with other ships, activity
level of the ship, and number of uniformed Klingons on the ship.
Another award that is currently given out at Dragon
con is for the Dark Moon Fleet Ship of Honor. The Fleet Commander
(me) decides who receives this. I listen to what my staff has to
say and I listen to the Quad Commanders sing the praises of those that
they would like to see get this award. Things I look at are the
same things that the Quadrant Commanders look at. I pay special
attention to what my staff and Quadrant Commanders have to say.
Last year's ship that won any of these streamers or
banners is allowed to keep their banner and it is incumbent upon them
to write on the banner the year and what the banner is for, i.e.:
'Galacticon Ship of Honor 2001', 'Dark Star Quadrant Ship of Honor
2002', etc. This can be written in Klingon or terran language, it
is entirely up to the ship. But they must supply a blank banner
for the next year's award. They keep their award permanently to
show that they won the honor and glory of that award.
The dimensions of the banners are as follows:
For the convention Ship of Honor: 40" long and
7 1/2" wide, and this can be of any color that they wish as long as it
stays that color for that convention so everyone will know that
yellow is for XYZ con, dark blue is for ABC con, etc.
For the Quadrant Ship of Honor: 40" long
and about 14" wide. It has a 3" by 40" stripe of black, then a 7"
stripe of color to be determined by the Quad color, and then another 3"
stripe of black. (The Dark Phoenix Quad color is purple; the Dark Star
Quad color is green)
For the Dark Moon Fleet: 60" long by 36" wide. It has
a 3" by 60" stripe of black, then a 3" by 60" stripe of white, then a
24" by 60" stripe of red, then a 3" by 60" stripe of white, then a 3"
by 60 " stripe of black. The ship will write "Dark Moon Fleet
Ship of Honor 2003" on the banner.
The banners will be able to be hung by loops on the
shorter side.
I encourage all past recipients of any of these
awards to come forward and sing of the glories that they have won, to
let all know that your ship has won a Ship of Honor Award for a
convention, quadrant or for the Dark Moon Fleet.
With this I hope to instill friendly rivalry between
all ships of the Fleet to vie for the honor of receiving these
awards. This can only bring more fun and competition and
enjoyment to the Klingons that it's meant to honor… the individual
crewmembers of each and every ship. I welcome any comments or
thoughts on the matter.
