From The Wild Frontier

Greetings from the Wild Frontier. Kestrel here. What have we been up to lately? Well, aside from a little bit of hiking and camping, we're all getting ready for King Richard's Faire down in Massachusetts. We like to think we're mixing with high society 'cause it's almost on "The Cape".

Well, we can dream anyway. We're all putting the finishing touches on our medieval outfits (except for that wicked wench Julie, who always ends up sewing in the car on the way to the Faire!). We had a pretty good size group last year, but we're hoping for bigger and better this year. After all, we're all going to have the issue of the magazine that featured His Holiness the Pope (not the real pope, you understand--every Ren Faire needs to have the church represented). Every Pope needs a fan club, and we're going to be it.

But here's a great idea for your next convention. We played live battle chess at the Ren Faire here in Maine. What a blast! All you need is some colored squares for the chessboard, and someone who knows how to play. That should liven things up a bit.
