Editor: How and why did you become a Ferengi?

Ferengi Bov: The how is easy, I just went out and bought a Paramount Ferengi head. Later I got a head that was fitted to me. The why? I liked Quark's character... he's a comic character with an edge to him... comedic with a twist. And being a Shakespeare scholar, my favorite characters are always the comedic ones with an edge.

E: How does "the Ferengi within" show itself in your behavior?

FB: Well, I'm not normally as ruthless as most Ferengi, but when you put yourself into the role, you "put on" the character.

E: Just "how full is your plate" outside of fandom?

FB: I'm a full-time graduate student at the University of Cincinnati, English literature, lots of heavy books. (My personal emphasis is medievaland renaissance literature.) Plus two jobs, and my family...husband, kids, pets. My next big project is dramaturging a theatrical production in spring, and working on a friend's wedding.

E: Tell us about the ship you're on...

FB: I'm on the ILV Midnight Warrior, "The best ship in the Quadrant".....we have become family both inside and outside of club life. Like most of the crew, I joined after volunteering at the Federation Science Exhibit at the Cincinnati Museum Center.

E: I suppose that you have some interesting interactions, with your crew consisting of so many different species.

FB: Well, I have a lot of fun clowning with the Jem Hadar. It's fun to interact with anyone at conventions... Klingon, human, or otherwise. I enjoy proving to Klingons and others that Ferengi aren't all that bad... I'm a Line Proctor for the Klingon House of Yotlh'IH, to which I belong.

E: What kind of appearances do you look forward to making?

FB: Conventions, especially as "Moogie" , parades, holiday parties, anywhere a Ferengi can ham it up... we love notoriety.

E: What was the most memorable experience you've had in fandom?

FB: When Robert Beltran signed my Ferengi head. He could have signed any part of me he wanted. I'd love to sink my Ferengi teeth into him!

E: Do you have an interest in communicating with the other Xeno-Legionaires around the country?

FB: Yes, I'd enjoy hearing from fellow Legionaires. The main email contact for our ship is our XO, Major Liesl Dax (Tina Schoenfeld)<[email protected]>, and my own email address is <[email protected]>

E: What is your official position on your ship's roster?

FB: Why, I'm the Keeper of the Treasury, of course!
