For
more than forty years it kept us watching, pondering, laughing and
occasionally fighting. We had a chance early in its life to keep it
alive, and we won. It came back, then went away again. But we couldn't
let it die. It aged and grew as we did, tackling new issues and
discovering new places within our universe and our minds. Star Trek
made us. Now, it's gone again. Rather than focus on how it left, focus
on how Star Trek left us feeling. Proud to be a vibrant part of
something truly magic and alive.
We howl the loss of that which
was glorious and honorable. Will it rise again, like a phoenix from its
own ashes? If it does, we hope that it will have the strength and clear
vision, the passion and foresight that graced the Star Trek we knew.
But, as of now, there are no more Star Trek series to inspire new
generations. WE are now the living legacy of STAR TREK, and it is for
US to propel all that Star Trek was, is, and will be, to the ends of
the galaxy.
