The following is
a series of images from the 50th birthday party for Geo.
The theme was a convention, titled GeoCon. Many of us know Geo
from sci-fi conventions, those of us that do know what kind of party
that is. The party theme and planning were the brainchild of
Geo's lovely wife, Sarah.
The image at right was created by Chris Jones to be used
for the party. The picture depicts the birthday man as
Ming The Merciless, one of Geo's many alter egos. To see more
pictures of Geo as Ming, go to
Ming's wedding album.
The image was used on invitations, the birthday cake, the "program
guides" and on large vinyl posters displayed about the room.
Two vinyl posters were misprinted by Kinko's. In
the misprinted version, the black ink was, in fact,
blue. Kinko's made two accurately colored posters as soon as the
error was pointed out and the rejects were sold to us a large
discount.
One of the rejects worked out well as a card to be signed, the blue
could be signed on with black marker and there was lots of room
for the 85 -
100 or so attendees.
Upon arrival, guests were asked to sign in and were given fan club
buttons to wear at the party.

Tom and Dave, "The Kidnap Squad" brought Geo to the movies while the
double top secret set up was happening. After movie fun time was
over, Geo was blindfolded and led into to the Radisson, where he was
met by fifty or
sixty close friends.
Incidentally, I didn't take any of the photos on this page, all
of
them were taken by Peter Verrant.

Here's the cake, which brought new meaning to the words "Eat Me".
The cake was done by Byerly's, the bakery staff was absolutely fabulous
and did a marvelous job.
The present opening portion of the evening was led by a small
representation of Ming's brides.
They were "The good" (Laura in a long white dress and
flowy blonde wig), "the bad" (Mary in a sexy black top, short sparkly
skirt and whip), and... "the ugly" (Bill in a pastel multicolored dress
and wild untamed blonde wig).
Everyone was a good sport about the whole thing,
especially Bill and Geo. In this photo, Geo looks somewhat
non-chalant,
but those of us who were there know better. *Tee-hee*.
