Well, it's time to talk about the relatives. You know, the "missing link" between the smooth-skulled Klingons of the original STAR TREK series, and the Klingons we saw in STAR TREK THE MOTION PICTURE. In that movie-- which you should really go back and see!-- the Klingons have a definite lobster -glued -to the-top-of-the-head "look", a style of headpiece you don't see ANYBODY wear!

The relatives I'm talking about are called the KREEG. (The Who?) The Kreeg...a slightly different spelling of the German word for "war". These are warlike mutants who think of nothing but killing, capturing, eating, shooting, and driving around in old beater cars. They slap around women--which to me is the mark of a true savage-- and have the letter "K" tattooed on their right cheeks-- which to me is the mark of somebody with a mark.

You're thinking, "Kris, you're making this jazz up." Nah. Not me.

Gene Roddenberry did it.

In a pilot television project called "PLANET EARTH", a band of stalwart do-gooding ding-dongs spread the growth and rebuilding of this planet, laid low by the nuclear holocaust we've seen in countless other pilot television projects. All this is set in the year 2133.

In "PLANET EARTH", these hapless heroes race around the world in tunnels. On the surface a colony of Amazon women have turned their men into mindless wimps called "dinks". Oh-- the women control these "dinks" by drugging their food and water, so watch it, guys: steer clear of the drinks for dinks.

The Kreeg-- their leader is called "Soldier Commander"; as good a name as any. They wear uniforms, which look...violet. Oh-- helmets too, which on their knobby heads must really hurt. No blasters for these bad-boys. They use M1 carbines.

Remember General Chang from STAR TREK 6? Their heads resemble his.

The Kreeg. Our long-lost brothers. For most, it'll be best that they remain lost. But they are the"missing link" in the evolution of the Klingon "look".

Roddenberry....what WAS hethinking? Or DRINKING?
