Straight From The Water Tower

HovpoH 0003.18 on a bright sunny day in the Kri'stak Quadrant in the
Ring of Fire Fleet hosted another Day of Honor celebration which has
become a yearly tradition. In attendance were representatives of some of
the quadrants finest as well as other honored guests. We were especially
honored with the return of JG Herzler, who had attended our very first
DoH, and he was honored in return on the anniversary of his Terran birth
with a birthday song led by our own Sgt Major T'Bor. The day included
feasting, competitions and a special ceremony for the Knights of Grethor
(ya gotta check out Totally bIj issue 15 for the history of this honored
group).  The competitions held were the kavok (that spear and hoop thing
as seen on STNG), the pugel stix (bat the heck out of an opponent
standing on a turntable with a giant Q-Tip), a hocky shoot (hey we have
the KHL), a water gun shoot (what to do with the Power Rangers) and a
Starship Race (you have to see it to believe it). There was also a guess
how many Gagh are in the jar which by the end of the day the guess was
one since the gagh became disgusting in the heat. The winning teams were
the White - third place, Blue - second place and Yellow - first place.
All were awarded medals. Also included in the funtivities was a treasure
hunt, K'Match game (Baltek's favorite game) and the story of Yooch the
Klingon Teddy.  At the end of the day what has become yet another
tradition for DoH we adjourned to Farrell's Ice Cream parlor for cool
treats with lots  o chocolate and finished the ceremonies with the
opportunity drawing (many thanks to Starbase One for the mucho fab
donations and to Taj for the wonderful jewelry our cadet who won it is
still on cloud nine), proceeds from the drawing will be going to JG
Herzler's  favorite charity. Also included was the promotion of Kanuchi
to the rank of Lt. Commander, K'Tor and Kahlee Kordas to the rank of
Commander and also to K'Tor taking on the extra responsibilities of
third officer on the "A" watch team.
Thank you to all Stranglehold crewmembers who devoted a lot of time to
making this an extra special DoH (some did some extra extra extra work so
get some sleep you deserve it). To our brothers and sisters from Las
Vegas thank you  for coming out, it's always an honor when we all get
together to raise some Grethor. To Comm Station Z thank you for coming,
you show that there are some Feddies that are tough enough to handle
Klingon competitions. And to Cmdr Edwards from Starfleet Institute of
Sciences (Madison Middle school) for coming out to see what we do, we are
anxious to return to your school on  June 8th to again talk with your
students. To K'Tek (who is still a member of this crew when he has the
time) for coming out and helping me to rehydrate when I overdid it, thank
you. And finally thank you oh crew of the IKV Stranglehold for your
presentation of the Crew Appreciation Certificate to me, that really
knocked me for a loop and it is very much appreciated.
