Straight from the
Water Tower

Again the crowd becomes silent as the lone figure arrives to address the crowd. Before he speaks the question arises, "there are new fleet commanders in the Empire and all are giving their visions. What is your vision?"

He ponders briefly then replies: "Like most in this Empire, I require glasses to correct my vision", but of course like most he forgoes the glasses to coincide with the uniform (and the makeup) and thus his vision becomes diminished or not as clear. Of course maybe that is what is happening in the Empire as well, our vision is not as clear as it should be to accomplish what we should be doing, playing Klingon together.

Now as I take the center seat of the Ring of Fire Fleet as its new commanding officer I find I have many things I need to look at, and like any human leader newly appointed to his/her office I would like to make the right choices. However leadership is a double edged Popsicle stick. One side of the stick is the Fleet you serve (each leader must remember that they are there to serve the membership) and the other side is the rest of the Empire. Both sides place demands, or rather questions about your possible actions. Now why a Popsicle stick? Because for many would be commanders whether at the local ship level up to the highest rank the thought of power is a sweet tempting treat. When the realization of the real work involved shows up you're left with an empty popsicle stick which you either discard (quit the club) as useless or hold on to and build something from (MacGuiverism).

So I have my popsicle stick the next thing is this seat; after all it  will take awhile to get used to it because the cushion has the impression of someone else's bootox from years of living in that seat. It usually takes some time to redo that impression to fit comfortably. Sometimes we forget how people are used to the relationship they had with the prior administration and any sudden changes can lead to disaster. Now the best thing would probably get to know the ships in your fleet as well as the quadrant commanders, set up the lines of communication.

Popsicle stick, lumpy cushion, magazines & tv, what else? Glasses. Yes we're back to the vision thing. Go into this job with your eyes open to avoid any traps. Each ship, fleet, leader, crewmember, etc. has their own vision about what they want out of this club. Maybe we need a new motto to rally around such as: Prepare for trouble and make it double! To protect the world from devastation! To unite all peoples within our nation! To denounce the evils of truth and love! To extend our reach to the stars above! Klingons! Blast off at the speed of light! Surrender now, or prepare to fight!

OK so we watch a lot of Pokemon here in the water tower, we have cadets on the ship. The important thing to remember is this is a Fan Club and we all joined it to have FUN. You can be a ship that loves doing community service projects, a ship that does lots of gaming or a ship that loves to play act. Heck if the crew likes to wear clown hats on the third Sunday of the month that's ok too, the most important thing is the fun. That is my vision and that's why the House of Warnok is supplied with whoopee cushions and googly eye glasses.
