Battle for Morganton Comic Con Winter 2019

Hail Warriors!

It is my honor to report that we bested the Star Trek Independent Fleet’s attempt to grab the premier spot at an assigned fan table location, but were not there to enforce their claim. Upon warping into the battle, “General” Martok and I discovered that they had claimed the end table and we KAG Warriors were assigned an inside position. We have always arrived earlier to every convention we both attend and they know better! I switched table assignments and we began setting up in the sweet end of row location. Of course, they complained, but I told them you gotta arrive earlier than the Klingons to keep your supposed claim. We have been in that location before and I suspect THEY may have changed the assignments because upon checking with the host, he made no such assignment. Another Victory over the Federation, which SUCKS!

Martok and I quickly set up the table using props and collectibles that we do not normally bring out. He added cool props such as his Klingon drinking glasses and we proudly displayed his beautiful KAG business cards. He armored up in his traditional full Imperial and I wore my very first Klingon uniform that I made back in 1999. We both wore headpieces made by our esteemed former Thought Admiral Qob!.

A later sneaky attempt at sabotage was conducted by the Federation when the commander of the STIF table decided to try to put the UFP flag on our display, but was thwarted by Martok! Near the end of the con, however, we had to extend the hand of truce to those infidels when the 501st abandoned their area of space (because of a sick child) and at my urging we Klingons began to extend our influence into the neutral zone (for aesthetic reasons). It was an uneasy peace, an armed understanding, but it made our respective fan table areas look much better.

We were very pleased to see cosplayers in their own personal shuttles participating fully in the festivities. Human larvae are so CUTE! Also we had a great moment when one human’s Targ posed with Martok and myself. And there was a bittersweet moment for me to say farewell to my old friend Kurt Roberts, aka Kromag, who is a KAG member, but has been unable to participate for years. He is moving to Florida with his elderly mother in order for family to care for her better.

Meanwhile, Martok and I battled very hard! Humans are both stingy and deaf, but there were many with Honor who gave! Many thanks to Martok — who is a MACHINE when it comes to raising funds — we raised $300 for Kwanzaa Family Inn Women’s Shelter. Because we were so successful, we were able to reserve $100 back to be given for the Christmas Fund for the women and children at Kwanzaa, and donate the balance of $200 cash and $15 Square donations to the Kwanzaa office for normal facility operations costs.

Thanks to all who donated (and they got a piece of chocolate until supplied ran out) and to Tim McMahon who once again sponsored the KAG table and our free membership because we raise funds for charity and represent Star Trek at its best. All participating Warriors receive a Battle Notch for their hard work.
