After Event Report: Inside Pitch Toy Show, Hickory, NC

Begin Transmission

Thanks to a hail from the XO of the IKV Restless Star, I realized that the Inside Pitch Toy Show at the Hickory Metro Convention Center on July 20, 2013 was fast approaching. The Restless Star CO and XO could not attend due to another commitment, but (unbeknownst to me) plans were made to send representatives to help support the event. Wes Starkey was contacted and made aware that KAG would be there and would be again raising funds for a charitable organization. This time the charity was the CF Foundation.

I coordinated by subspace transmission with the CO and crew of the IKV Executioner and invited them on joint maneuvers. Communications were also made with other members of Death Touch Squadron to see if support could be done. The IKV Stormbringer hailed back and apprised me of plans to attend. I loaded the shuttle with what I thought was sufficient KAG table equipment and set off for Hickory. Upon arrival, I found Restless Star crew, BeQ’cha and Nivek waiting for me. They assisted in setting up the KAG table which was not fully powered up due to me leaving an entire cargo case of display materials at my home coordinates.

Fortunately with the arrival of Lt. Kas’Duj vestai-Mjolnir and his new crewperson, Lance Corporal T’Loria of Vulcan, more display materials were made available to complete the KAG table power-up sequence. It was good to see Kas’Duj again and to meet T’Loria. To my great surprise and joy, more Executioner crew joined the battle: IXL Lt. Suran tai-Mjolnir and his mate, Lt. K’Embri tai-Mjolnir. Qapla’! Later in the day, it was good to see my House Brother, Lt. Cmdr. Korath vestai-Septaric, CO of the IKV Stormbringer, beam down. He left the Stormbringer in low orbit around the event coordinates and that would later prove very tempting to his crew.

All Warriors quickly armored up and began battle. Many donations were given by the generous huMans and nearly all of them were rewarded by a hearty “Qapla’!” which always brought a smile (and more donations from others). The Vulcan Nivek needs training in the Klingon form of projection. It was an informal “pick-on-Nivek” day.

Because I knew the mess hall at the convention coordinates would very expensive, I brought provisions, including yuch (chocolate). However, as it turned out, the huMan food that was not as expensive as feared. Oh well, Klingon rations are nutritious and filling.

Korath and I discussed many things while he partook of a huge gagh wrapped in a bun. We were joined by Kas’Duj and I soon left the two Warriors to their discussions of KTV (Klingon Television) which was a project that Korath implemented while he worked at the public access television station near his home coordinates of Winston-Salem. Korath would like to resurrect KTV in the form of short fan films shot on location at events, and such, and posted on YouTube. I will definitely support this once it is launched. Qapla’!

Later that afternoon, Korath agreed to bring the Stormbringer into the Death Touch Squadron as a sister ship. That makes six ships in DTS: Executioner, Raging Wolf, Restless Star, Gre’thor’s Revenge, Hnoiyika and Stormbringer. We support each other in battles to raise funds, recruit new members and raise awareness of the Klingon Assault Group. The crew of the Stormbringer were pleased and fired off several volleys from their ion cannon. One came a little too close to the KAG table, striking within 5 feet of it, and I called upon Korath to tell his crew to cease and desist. They turned their sights away from us, but continued to celebrate by raining fire down upon Hickory.

We had a promotion ceremony for T’Loria who was armored up as a Classic Klingon. She was upgraded from Lance Corporal to IXL Lt. tai. And she was added to the House of Mjolnir as well. Qapla’!

The joint efforts of the ships present resulted in $144 being raised for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The monies were given to Lt. K’Embri tai-Mjolnir to be sent to the Foundation.

Afterwards, members of the IKV Restless Star, Raging Wolf and Stormbringer went to a Good Day to Dine at a nearby restaurant, the NY Hibachi Buffet. It was glorious and much good food and conversation was had. Qapla’!
