AER, 7/26-28/2013
OSFest SF convention, Omaha
Lt. Akela tai-K’Tor, Captain of the IKV Raptor’s Heart, led her crew of the IKV Raptor’s Heart on a recruiting raid at the OSFest SF convention in Omaha. The crew members set up a replica of the ship’s Captain’s Ready Room with a display of Klingon weapons, ship models, and props. We also set out refreshments (rajktajino, brownies, cupcakes and molded chocolates) to greet visitors.
2nd Lts. Kalesta tai-K’Tor and Qurras tai-Doq’Marr took turns manning the ‘recruitment office’ while Lt. Akela, Sgt. Isis Prentice-Gertig and 2nd Lt. Jorn armored up and ventured out to meet the gathered denizens to talk about the Klingon lifestyle and culture, instruct them on the proper way to curse in tlhIngan Hol and preside over the trial of J.J. Abrams.
Although the gathering continued well into Sunday, 7/28, the Captain’s Ready Room was tore down Sunday morning, the remaining refreshments and other items were packed up and we abandoned the location before noon. However, the ship and crew remained at the site until about 1500 Hours.
At this gathering, we were able to make contact with several crew members whose home systems are distant, Sgts. Daniel Nielsen and Patrick Kennedy, as well as encourage many denizens to consider joining the us for future missions. Qapla’!

Greetings. KRIS here. First off, you guys had good brownies and a good Klingon “look”. I’ve noticed no mention in your write-up of any of the other Klingons who were at Osfest–including me!
I was glad to meet you…I look forward to doing that again, and hopefully having you play and party with us!

You will have to forgive my First Officer’s zeal to get the AER written on behalf of the ship, Thought-Admiral Kris epetai-Kurkura. I was busy with other things at the time and didn’t have the opportunity to write the AER myself. A more detailed version is forthcoming soon with more photos. I will see to it myself this time.
