AER: IKV Raptor’s Heart – Daytona Beach Klingon Feast

IKV Raptor’s Heart First Officer’s Personal Log entry: Using some of my accumulated leave, I traveled to the Earth sector known as Daytona Beach in search of R&R with Klingons of the KLAW fleet. While the event was over the weekend of Sept. 26-28, 2014, most of the activities happened on the Saturday.

Friday was a meet and greet session, where I got together with many Klingons I had never met and a few that I had run into at the Star Trek Exhibition a few years earlier at Kennedy Space Center. There was also training available on the Artemis Klingon Bridge Simulator that I availed myself to.

Saturday began with the judging of the Scavenger Hunt, then it was on to the Battle Simulations we had trained for the night before. I won the Fek’Lhr’s Tek’Lhr’s Toss challenge. Lunch (Pigs In Space) was provided by the USS Haven and was part of the Warrior’s Contest that I was participating in. After that I helped judge the Synthahol Competition but there was nothing synthetic about their creations. I won my first round of the Arm Wrestling Completion but was bested in the second. The actual Feast later that evening after an awards ceremony, my team took first place in the Bridge Simulations.

Sunday was a day to say goodbye and prepare for our various returns to our assigned sectors. Many old friends were well met and new friends made over that weekend.

Note to self: The day is better served when you overcome your shyness and participate in all available activities.
