IXL Colonel Keela zantai-Septaric, CO of the IKV Raging Wolf, reporting.

Due to various battles of Real Life, I was unaware (or had forgotten) an incoming battle on a local front, the Hickory ComiCon on May 10, 2014 at the Hickory Metro Convention Center. After hailing the CO of the IKV Executioner, for the battleground is within his ship’s patrol area, he stated “Give it to the Fanged Moon for their glory!” The Executioner CO and his crew had other matters to attend to.

1st Lt. BeQ’cha vestai-Majjas, CO of the IKV Fanged Moon and her XO, 2nd Lt. Nivek tai-Majjas (also her parmaqqay), stalwartly rose to the challenge. I asked if they would raise funds for the Kwanzaa Family Inn (KFI), a shelter for homeless women and their minor children, where I now work, and they graciously agreed. I sent a subspace message to BeQ’cha to let her know I would warp down early and drop off loaner battle armor for Cadet Lance Corporal Kerrash Agan, a crew person of the IKV Raging Wolf. Kerrash’s parmaqqay submitted her paper application to join KAG that day. Qapla’!

I arrived around 9:00 am with the Dark Moon Fleet banner and smaller banners announcing the fundraiser. I warped home shortly afterwards to rest before my daughter’s Toque Ceremony wherein she received her Chef’s hat, a high honor among the huMans. After the ceremony and various Klingon-worthy hors d’oeuvres, I warped back down to the battle front. I found BeQ’cha and Nivek breaking down the table due to fatigue and illness, so my timing was good. They kindly left the donation jar and black cover to the table and I assumed the task of generating donations.

My heartfelt thanks to the command staff of the IKV Fanged Moon. Despite their ill health, they raised $51.50 for KFI women’s shelter and they got several donations for later fundraisers. Qapla’! Nivek had relayed the battlefield situation, and I found it to be true for my tour of duty as well. At first the Humans did not want to give. And many of them suffer from selective deafness. But as time went on, more and more opened their hearts and wallets, and I was able to raise $53.50 for a grand total for the day of $105.00 for Kwanzaa Family Inn.

Believe me, the funds are desperately needed. At the next fundraiser, I will make sure that informational materials are available about KFI women’s shelter for the general public.

My thanks to all who helped and to all who gave. All have great Honor!
