AER – Community Service Challenges 2017.05 – IKV ADJUDICATOR

Because operations are unique on the Eastern flank of the Empire, so is our method of reporting.
This report is a summary of accomplishments in the field of charitable action for the month of May.

IKV ADJUDICATOR currently has three active monthly challenges in pursuit of community service:

EcoCap Campaign – the collection, washing, and donation of PET bottle caps. EcoCap, an NPO headquartered in Yokohama, then sells the caps to recycling companies and the profits are used to fund childhood polio vaccination programs in Bhutan. Our standing goal is 800 caps per donation run. This month, thanks in no small part to SGT Na’Tan… we crushed our goal with a total of 1452 caps collected. That closes our first challenge, and puts us in striking distance of the next one.

R-Station Recycling Challenge – a reverse vending machine found at Al Plaza (a region supermarket/department store chain), they accept washed and stripped PET bottles and aluminium and steel beverage cans. Five such items earns the user a point, these points can be redeemed for gift cards. As a ship it was decided that in tandem with EcoCap (and the Pull Tab Challenge below) we would donate any and all monies generated by the R-Station system. Our challenge goal is 500 points, we are currently at 91.2.

Pull Tab Challenge – schools in Japan regularly have drives to collect beverage can pull tabs which are sold as scrap and the profits used to supply wheelchairs to the needy. Because of the obvious connection to our above challenges, we have added this challenge. Our challenge goal is 1kg. We currently have collected 483g.

ADJUDICATOR personnel active in the above challenges for the month of May include:
LCDR Mek’tor
SGT Na’Tan
SGT M’Sai
LCPL ‘Em’ihley
LCPL Rihkh
