ACE was a convention that the IKV Restless Star had initially made arrangements to attend, but due to transferring to Klin-Fire Fleet, had to assign to the IKV Raging Wolf to handle. Though I was tired, duty is everything to a Klingon, so there was no time to rest. Thankfully, the CO of the IKV Fanged Moon, Lt. BeQ’cha vestai-Majjas, flew with me in my shuttle to the event and kept me awake.
We offloaded and set up to raise funds for Four Seasons Hospice in the Asheville area. Our neighbors were the USS Alaric to the right and the 501st behind us. Across the aisle was a Whovian display complete with a wonderful Tardis (which the Darth Vader desecrated with his visit…). There were many, many cosplayers, so it was very enjoyable to huMan watch. It was an honor to meet Buddy Lewis, new recruit, and his son. Qapla’!
BeQ’cha ran the Dice game, and using the comics that the IKV Restless Star had given the IKV Raging Wolf as prizes (along with straight donations), KAG netted $136 for Four Seasons. I added $4 to it to make it an even $140 cashier’s check.
There were several opportunities to recruit there and I handed out my IXL business cards right and left. There were so many cosplayers, it seemed like every other person there was dressed up, including the vendors! It was awesome to see a cloaked Terry Short and J. R. Rathbone as well. Hopefully a ship will be founded in the Asheville area soon. There is a lot of potential in the area.
