IKV Kahless Ro'

Ship Statement - Month 6, year of Kahless 1001[June 1999]
A ship in port is safe... But that is not what ships are for.
This was engraved on the dedication plaque of the first, Qapla' class strike cruiser. It is every bit as true today, as it was the day that ship was commissioned.

The face of the Klingon Empire has changed over the past decade. Recently, politics in the fictional world of Star Trek were reflected in the physical world of our own fan organization. New leaders have replaced previous ones. Plans and agendas shift with each new leader.

The crew of the IKV Kahless Ro' say - "So what." We know who we are. We know what we believe in. We joined KAG to be part of a greater whole. We joined to be part of the Klingon Empire. Let me stress one word of that last sentence - part. None of us are the Empire. None of us should ever want to be. And lest we forget, KAG is only part of the Empire. Here on Earth the Klingon Empire is represented by many factions, KAG, KLI, KLAW, IKF, KDC and many, many independent ships.

The crew of the IKV Kahless Ro' remain loyal to each other, the ship, to KAG and above that to the glorious Klingon Empire. We continue to follow the directives of our Fleet Admiral and pledge our continued support, thereof.

To that end, the IKV Kahless Ro' serves under the following status:

Class: Qapla' class strike cruiser
Crew: 100% modern Klingon, 97% uniformed
Current Project: Construction of ship's bridge components for use at public events. Freestanding consoles currently nearing completion.
Current Event: Klingon Empire Day at Star Trek the Experience. The IKV Kahless Ro' has been asked by Paramount Parks to make Quarks Bar a more Klingon environment for this special event. We shall be installing/supplying Klingon consoles, weapons racks, bat'leHmey, painstik racks, banners and the like to transform the bar.
Current Charity Assistance: Big Brothers/Big Sisters. We shall be gaining attention and media coverage for their fund raiser event of June 19. We will be participating in their annual Bowl-a-thon later in the year.

Current Challenge: Issued to the USS Columbia. The goal is most money
raised for the afore mentioned bowl-a-thon. It should be noted that the
Federation team has always had more members, yet the Klingon team has
always raised 300%-400% more money. The IKV Kahless Ro' also intends to
once again increase their total money raised. The first year total was $315.
The second was $2,175. The total for this year will be announced in the
Victory Statement to follow the event later this year.

Finally, I would like to take a moment and thank my crew. During the past
few months of BS within KAG and a passing period of high pressure in my
personal life, the men and woman that I serve with have been amazing.
Their capacity to tolerate is immeasurable. Despite their own busy
schedules, they always find time to work on projects and participate in
events. Their easy willingness to give up sleep for the sake of the ship is
unbelievable.Their enthusiasm, loyalty and dedication is what keeps me
doing this. I am very lucky and honored to be associated with people of this
caliber.
