RANKS
A Warrior's first rank increase traditionally comes at the time of completion
of his first uniform. Subsequent rank increases are given as recognition
of the Warrior's activity level and scope of service to the club. KAG
awards promotions for continued participation and achievement, never solely
for length of membership. Promotion to rank is used in the Klingon
Assault Group as a symbol of recognition for activity and scope of
service. It is not a license to issue orders.
NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICERS

Corporal - Da'
Sergeant - bu'
Sergeant-Major - bu''a'
The above ranks are for KAG's non-commissioned officers, those members
who do not have a uniform. They proceed from Lance-Corporal through

COMMISSIONED OFFICERS

newly formed ship when the officer is not yet uniformed. Once

prerogative to pass approval on the acceptability of a Warrior's uniform.
The rank of Lieutenant is usually granted by the Ship's Commanding Officer,
but in the absence of one it may be granted by the Quadrant or Fleet Commander.
The honorific of tai is also granted along with this rank. In Klingon:

officers with the rank of Captain or above. In Klingon: la'Hom

HONORIFICS
In addition to ranks, officers are distinguished by Honorifics.
These are titles awarded much as ranks are, and some may be considered 'half-rank'
promotions.
* tai-This is the first honorific. It is automatically
awarded with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant (Lt jg) and is carried over with
the promotion to Lieutenant.
* vestai-Awarded to one holding the rank of Lieutenant.
Lieutenants with the honorific of vestai are sometimes referred to with
the title of 'Senior Lieutenant'. This honorific is carried over when the
warrior is promoted to the rank of Lt. Commander.
* sutai-Awarded as an upgrade to the rank of Lt. Cmdr, and
carried over to the rank of Commander. The promotion to Commander
(sutai) signifies that the officer has advanced to the senior officer phase.
The honorific of sutai is automatically carried over with the promotion
to the rank of Captain
* zantai-Awarded as an upgrade to the rank of Captain.
These Captains are considered senior captains because of their extensive
service to the Empire. This honorific is carried over with promotion
to the rank of Admiral.
* epetai-Used with the rank of Thought Admiral. This
is the highest honorific.
Addressing an officer: The customary method of address is to
put the rank first, followed by the individual's name, then the honorific
followed by a dash and then the person's Line name. Example:
Lt. Cmdr. K'Rak vestai-Moghri
(Note: The term 'epetai', while it is the honorific of a Thought Admiral,
is also used as a formal title for the Leader of a Family Line. It
can be used in addressing or referring to a line leader, as in "K'ruel,
Epetai of the House Kraghor")
KAG's Cadet Corps
Cadets in KAG are members that are under the age of sixteen.
In many cases, these members act as auxiliaries on KAG vessels. Occasionally
there is enough of a grouping of cadets that they are orgainzed into a unit
or 'gunboat'.
Like all members, cadets in KAG are rewarded in various ways, the
most common being rank. Cadet rankings mirror the rank system of their
adult counterparts up to the rank of Commander, save that cadet rank is always
prefaced with the word 'cadet'. For example, Cadet Lt. Cmdr. KlinwI'
serves on the MaQmigh. A leader among cadets is given the title 'Captain
of Cadets' and is put in command of a cadet unit.
Among cadets, uniforms are not required to advance in cadet ranking,
however, uniformed cadets are awarded the honorific of tai, as are all members
who complete a uniform.
A cadet who 'graduates' from the Cadet Corps at or above the ranking
of Cadet Lt. Cmdr. is awarded the honorific of vestai for successful completion
of the Cadet Corps and for their work on behalf of KAG.
